It’s that time of year again where everyone is getting ready to go back to school or start a new school. It can be very exciting and leave your children very nervous, so making it run as smoothly as possible will help. When kids go back to school, whether that is a government or private school, things seem to creep up on you quite quickly and a lot needs to be done in a short space of time. Here are some simple ways to make your back-to-school process a lot easier and it will help you be more organised throughout the school year to come.

Getting Uniforms Ready

One of the main complaints that you will hear on a school day morning and is commonly put in films and TV series (as it’s a very common issue), is children not being able to find their school jumpers or uniform. It could be in a pile of mess in the bedroom, but in the morning you have a lot to do so you don’t want to be running around finding things that could simply be more organised. You can buy quite cheap plastic storage drawers and they normally have five drawers. This is perfect, as it is one for each day of the week. So that it’s easier for your children in the mornings (and you can plan this on the weekends so it’s all ready for the week ahead), an idea is to have their uniform in there for each day of the week – so that would be a new shirt and socks and pants etc. Then, the items of clothing that they would wear the next day (like trousers or jumpers), as long as they’re not ruined or dirty, they can simply take off and put in the drawer for the next day. This prevents stress and rushing around in the morning, as everything is organised and ready for getting dressed.

School Lunches

School lunches are another big thing that can cause a lot of issues. It could be that your children forget to take their lunches, or you may have forgotten to make them. These things happen and it’s just life. So an easy way to help make this more manageable is by making a few days lunch at a time. If you get drawer inserts for your fridge, you can store their lunch snacks like yoghurts, cheese strings and fruit in them. Also, in cupboards, you could get inserts where you store things like crisps and other store cupboard snacks. You can then make it part of your Child’s routine in the morning to grab their lunchbox and a sandwich out of the fridge, along with some snacks and fruit. This will help give them confidence and make sure that they’re eating healthily and balanced, which teaches them good life habits, as well as taking a bit of the stress off of you.

Schedule Planning

There is so much that goes on during school term time, what with extracurricular activities, clubs and other appointments that you may have. So, keeping organised with a whiteboard wall calendar (or something that everyone can write on) is another great way to help you plan for the week ahead.

In Summary

While back-to-school time has the potential to be a stressful event for all, with a little planning and foresight it is possible to put systems into place to help you to keep on top of things. You just need to find a way of doing things that works for you and fits into your lifestyle. By staying organised in this way, you should hopefully have them out of the door each morning with a smile on their (and more importantly, your) face.
